It’s finally summer here in Chicago and it’s time to focus on your summer style! As a personal stylist, I spend a LOT of time shopping for my clients. Since I’m running around town (or searching online) for the perfect pieces, when it comes time to shop for myself, I have a short list of items that I want to add to my closet! So this month, I thought I’d share them with you along with a few more of my summer style picks!
Summer Style: Colorful Striped Pieces
Colorful, bold stripes are IN this season. You’ll see dresses, shorts, skirts, tops and co-ords in many different hues and variations. Don’t be afraid to add stripes to your wardrobe! Vertical stripes are your friend! They make you look taller and draw the eye up to your face. If you like color, choose bold contrasting stripes. If you like a more muted palette, go for pastel shades or subtle stripes in washed out blues and greys. Since I love color, I added this bright striped *Tart maxi dress to my wardrobe along with a pair of breezy striped shorts from Splendid. As you can see, it was not hard to find other fun striped pieces for my clients either!
Summer Style: Cheerful Sundresses
Sundresses are a summer wardrobe staple. They are perfect for just about any occasion, and this year, I’m loving textured versions in solid colors with unique details or features. There are so many sundresses to choose from, but personally, I couldn’t say no to this *bright yellow eyelet sundress from J.Crew. Here are a few others that caught my eye when shopping for clients.
Summer Style: Cute Workout Gear
It’s true – if you love your outfit, it is definitely easier to make time for working out! My favorite (and my clients’ favorites!) are coordinated sets in bright colors or playful prints. *I found a great workout set in my signature pink from Outdoor Voices. The racerback cut of the sports bra is a nice feature. I was tempted by a few of these other pieces as well!
Summer Style: Whimsical Prints
I love unique whimsical prints! It’s just a great way to show your personality and inject some fun into your wardrobe! I love finding prints that will start conversations. *A tiger print shirt dress? YES, PLEASE! How about a lobster print co-ord or a NYC cat print tee? I’m here for all of it!
Summer Style: All Things Citrus
Citrus is the freshest print this season, and it is showing up on everything from dresses, tops, skirts, shoes, bags, and accessories! *I ran across the sweetest lemon print top at Genevieve Boutique and just fell in love with it! There were quite a few other citrus-y prints that nearly made the cut. This pink grapefruit dress from Parker was another one of my favorites!
