Mixing Prints: Camo and Leopard

by CWstyle

The last few seasons just about everyone has been embracing the art of mixing prints. It’s one of the easiest ways to instantly elevate your style quotient by adding interest and whimsy with your existing wardrobe staples. From stripes and florals to plaids and polka dots, fall is the perfect time to play with layers and textures that can create a unique statement that’s all your own!

One of my favorite combos is the pairing of Camouflage and the very on trend yet thoroughly classic Leopard print. (not a surprise, for those of you who follow me on Instagram… meow!)

If you’re still a bit apprehensive with mixing it up, I’ve put together a few tips to follow.

Think about the following prints as NEUTRALS:

  • Leopard
  • Stripes
  • Camouflage
  • Plaid
  • Polka Dots
  1. Start simple, by choosing a print that will be the focus. This one can be bold while the second pattern will a bit more demure. i.e., don’t have a hot pink leopard print with a neon orange stripe, unless you want to be seen by hunters 😊
  2. Now add the second print in either a similar color or tone or even a same pattern in a solid coordinating color.
  3. Finish it off with an accessory that compliments either of the prints you have paired together. Example: a leopard or green bag!

Below, I’ve taken the earthy green camo print and paired it a bolder textured animal print. Coincidently both, are meant to blend in with its surroundings in nature, hence my common theme NATURE!

Mixing Prints Camo and Leopard

The light and darker muted shades of green in the camo print, along with the varying shades of brown in the leopard, are all great neutrals on their own, but pack a warm, cozy fashion statement when combined.

Keep the rest of the outfit simple. This is when you reach for your wardrobe basics to complete the look; such denim, black leggings or a pencil skirt.

It’s the same advice for the shoes, keeping them neutral with brown, black or even taupe. In this case, the leopard vest and camouflage shirt are the center of attention in this ensemble while the other items are meant to compliment them.
