You might have noticed that the holiday shopping season is in full swing. If you know me, you know that I am a huge supporter of small businesses, and choose to shop local for myself and my clients whenever possible. This year, it’s more important than ever to support your local small businesses, so I want to share a few of my favorites. Each of these businesses is one that I truly love and regularly visit and shop. You will not be disappointed!
For Beautiful Flowers – Elena’s Garden and Events
I have ordered dozens – if not hundreds – of flowers from Carla at Elena’s Garden over the years. She always creates unique, gorgeous arrangements that look amazing. Everyone who has ever received one of her arrangements always calls to rave about them. So if you’re looking for a holiday centerpiece, flowers for someone special, or even an ongoing flower delivery service, you will love Elena’s Garden.
For Book Lovers – Roscoe Books
Roscoe Books is my little neighborhood bookstore and I have loved them for years. You can find anything there and if they don’t have it, they can order it for you! Even though you can’t browse in person on the weekends right now, you can always call them to ask questions and place an order. And you can also order online. If you or someone in your life is a book lover, you will surely find something for them here!
For the Hungry – John’s Place
There are not many weeks that go by that we don’t order pickup from John’s Place. They serve up delicious comfort food – which has been very needed during this time! My favorite is their breakfast sandwich! You can order online or call to place an order.
For Fashionistas – Sophia Reyes
Sophia is a clothing designer based right here in Chicago. Some of my favorite pieces have been from her shop (remember that polka dot jumpsuit?!!). Not only is she one of my favorites, but my clients also love her designs as well. You can visit her website to order or send her a message on Instagram!
For Risk-Takers – Wind & Throttle
You didn’t know that you needed a moto jacket, did you? Well, you’ll be dying for one after you visit the Wind & Throttle website. The designs are geared for motorcycle enthusiasts, but honestly, would delight any of the fashion risk-takers in your life. This is the only female-founded motorcycle-related brand that I’ve ever heard of, and I truly love her rock-n-roll aesthetic.
For the Kids – Timeless Toys
I love this Lincoln Square gem! They were a lifesaver during the quarantine when Ian was home with me. I ordered him countless puzzles and toys to keep him entertained and they delivered them to my doorstep! They have a wonderful, unique selection of educational and wooden toys and games.
For Thoughtful Gifts – Neighborly
I love this store! They have a location right on Montrose, and it always has fun and interesting things that seem to be perfect for someone in my life. They have a great selection of unique gifts and décor. If you’re looking for a special little something, be sure to check them out!
For the Stylish – Cashmere and Wit!
OK, I know this is my own business. But if you need some help shopping this season, I can help! And a gift certificate for a styling session is an easy and thoughtful gift. It’s perfect if someone you love is going through a lifestyle change or job transition and would appreciate some styling advice. You can choose the service and amount that you would like to give. And if you want to give a gift to yourself, consider a virtual closet cleanse! I’m here to help you with any of your styling and shopping needs this season and into the new year.
