Traditionally, spring is all about pastels and dresses. This year, however, pants are having a major moment! High-waisted, wide-leg, cropped, striped, distressed, colorful, or printed – pants have gotten sassy this season and they come in just about any iteration you can imagine. One of my favorite places to shop for my clients in Chicago is at Genevieve Boutique in Lincoln Square. I love to support local Chicago boutiques, and when I saw that Genevieve brought in a great selection of pants, I just had to show you a few of my favorites!
Unique Joggers
These lightweight joggers are as sweet as they are practical. With the subtle stripe in the fabric, dainty lace details down the side and drawstring bows at the ankle – I knew that I could LIVE in these pants. Joggers are the stylish version of sweatpants. I knew that I could run around to client meetings and to daycare in comfort, while still feeling put together.
Bright Stripes
These bright, colorful striped pants remind me that warmer days are just around the corner. The easy wide-leg cropped silhouette is relaxed, and the colorful vertical stripes are slimming. These basically feel like pajamas that you can wear out of the house.
Pastel Denim
Everywhere you look, brands are doing something fun, unexpected and unique to denim. I’m particularly fond of pastel denim like these purple ones. The colorful take on classic skinny jeans allows you to dabble in denim trends without going too far outside of your comfort zone.
Tuxedo Stripes
My favorite version of striped pants come with tuxedo stripes down the side. I tried on two pairs of tuxedo striped pants while I was at Genevieve Boutique, and I couldn’t decide which one was my favorite! This pair is bolder, with wide white stripes down the side, while the second pair has a subtler double stripe.
In the end, I took the double striped version home because I loved the slightly more relaxed style and the ankle-length hem. In fact, I took this entire outfit home!
Crops
As you might have noticed, nearly all the pants featured here have been cropped! It’s THE hemline of the season, so try to find a pair that works for you and your daily routine. This striped pair is a great work-day option for the office. I threw on a light-colored moto jacket to lift the color palette and make it more spring-ish!
Bonus: Painted Denim
Of course, I couldn’t leave out my favorite trend of the season – painted denim! These adorable jeans are in heavy rotation this month – I just can’t get over the painted leopard!
