Pretty, Bold and Sassy in Pink

You may have noticed, lots of designers are very much in love with all things PINK this Spring and all I have to say to that is…. “What took them so long?!”

It’s no secret to those who have met me I love color and more specifically I love PINK! But not all of my clients would share my sentiment, initially that is. Yes I do hear hear quite often,
“I don’t wear pink, it’s not my color”.  Trust me when I say it’s a lot more wearable then you may think.

Many times, it’s dubbed as a “girly” color, up there with tu-tus and love of ballet…(guilty as charged). But I have news for you; not all pink has to be a shade of worn by the likes of Elle Woods! Instead, think more playful and sophisticated like rich magenta or bright fuchsia. Berry-hued sorbets and electric pink tones, compliment many skin tones, reflecting a natural rosy glow.

Case in point this gorgeous hot pink blazer! The classic structure of this jacket reads, polished and bold, perfect for the office and sassy enough for a night out on the town. I bet your thinking, “what the heck to do wear with it, that’s a one hit wonder.” Well, like I said, this color can be a lot more versatile then you may think. Let the jacket shine by pairing it with:

  • Destroyed blue skinny jeans
  • Polished bootcut dark denim
  • Black tailor pants, pencil skirt or jeans
  • Grey tailor pants or grey denim
  • White denim and white shorts or skirt

As for what goes underneath the jacket, keep it simple with crisp white tees and blouses or subtle prints like another of the season’s hottest trends, florals or neutral nautical stripes in navy or grey.

Take a look at three ways I’ve styled this gem by simply changing out the the top under the blazer and accessories!

Simple white tee with playful accessories and shoes.

Yes, by playful accessories, I clearly meant a kitten and fish bowl necklace.

Same simple white tee paired with a statement neckless and a equally stunning statement bag. Screams brunch to me!

The navy blouse with subtle floral print pairs well with the blazer for a smart look. Keep accessories simple and let the two share the spotlight.

So moral of the story? Do to try a little pink this spring and don’t worry about being too girly; remember there is a clear distinction between “girly” and “feminine”.  I’m saying go bold with statement-making color that says…I have arrived and I’m here to stay! Think Pink, think #LadyBoss and fly your pink ever-loving flags high!

Stylishly Yours,

Alyssa
