Spring Cleaning (But really shopping your closet)

A Spring Cleaning Calls for a Closet Cleanse

Here in Chicago, we are pretty good about enjoying the early March warm up each year for what it is; Mother Nature can be such a tease! As with any good tease, it can be confusing and racked with mixed signals. But we are a confident bunch, we Chicagoans; we don’t put much weight on her flightiness and frankly, are flattered by the attention. We interpret the little kisses of warmer temps and longer daylight as a promise of what’s to come in the very near future. And as with any other major event, we need to primp and prep starting with a cleanse… a closet cleanses that is!  Yes, ladies and gents a spring cleaning is in order, before heading out to flex your shopping muscles for the latest trends and must-haves, we need to make room for the new by going through what we already have.

Take a Sunday morning, along with a pot of coffee, and head on over and shop your closet. Try things on, then decide: am I going to keep, discard or donate. Take note and rid yourself of:

1. Any pieces that may be damaged beyond repair
2. Items that you have not worn in over a year; i.e. Neon leggings
3. Ill-fitting garments – Too tight or too big and baggy

A few items you may want to hold on to:

1. Floral Patterns are hot this spring! Be sure yours is fresh, bright and fits well.

2. Pretty flats – they’re in – in a big way! Be sure you visit the cobbler for a once over.

3. Coats/Jackets – Check for loose buttons and zippers on anoraks, trenches, and light-weight capes!
